Sept. 7th 2008, we lost a dear friend.BRUCE M. KALIN
AGE: 58 WARETOWN
Bruce M. Kalin, 58, of Waretown, died Sunday, Sept. 7. Bruce was the founder of the East Coast Convoy. Here are some of what his friends on Steel Soldiers had to say:
- "If anyone has had the opportunity to meet Bruce, you would have known that he was dedicated to the hobby. He owned a 1970 M35A2 that was painted with Marine Corps markings. Bruce was also an ex Marine. He was probably one of the most generous people when it came to helping friends or other enthusiasts. Many of us here in New Jersey will miss him."
Mike
- "I will truly miss him. I usually only saw him once a year (at Aberdeen) unless he was in the area taking a class (we actually met when he was at a conference at RTP picking up some class credits for his day job and needed an OD fix...) but I talked to him frequently on the phone..."
Cabell
- "Bruce was a friend. met him several times at Aberdeen and "spoke" with him often on the old MilVeh list...He WAS the ECC. Truly sad news."
Cranetruck
- "A great loss. Heard a lot about him, wish I had met him, he sounds like he would've been a great guy to know"
Maddawg
- "Well, he is in a better place now!! A place where MV's don't brake down. He can now have any MV he ever wanted, just by wishing it. I was lucky to meet Bruce and have him over at our house, we became good friends and talked on the phone and emailed often. And Bruce, if heaven has WiFi and you are reading this, I just want to say one thing, Shalom my friend."
Amnon
- "Reading this email brings tears to my eyes. I have known Bruce for very long time and it hasn't been that long since I spoke with him. He will be missed very much not only from me, but the United States Marine Corps Motor Transport Association as a hold."
